Our philosophy

LimberLux philosophy, beautiful woman with facial oil

We believe that skincare products and tools should be effective, but also gentle and soothing to the skin. That's why we only use ingredients that have a positive effect on the skin or are necessary to support the formulation. We do not select on the basis of natural or synthetic, because we believe that this distinction says nothing about how effective the ingredient is. We do avoid potentially harmful ingredients, such as parabens, phthalates, fragrances, essential oils and drying alcohols. And of course all our products are cruelty free.

Natural or synthetic

We do not differentiate between natural or synthetic when selecting ingredients. There are a lot of good natural ingredients, such as Aloe Vera or Argan oil, but also many effective and safe synthetic ingredients, such as retinol, vitamin C or niacinamide. In fact, the latter are the most effective and most researched skincare ingredients. We think it is more important to see if ingredients really do something positive for the skin and are not harmful. We select soft, nourishing and effective ingredients based on scientific research. By not limiting ourselves to only natural ingredients, we can create the best formulas that offer the best of both worlds.

Ingredients we don't use

What we leave out of our products is just as important as what we put in, therefore our products will not contain fragrances, essential oils, drying alcohols, parabens and phthalates. Read below why we have chosen not to use these substances in our formulas.

Fragrances and essential oils

Fragrances or essential oils are often added to make skin care products smell good. Fragrances and essential oils are the most common cause of an allergic reaction from skin care products. Essential oils and fragrances are perfect for scented candles and aroma diffusers, but they have no added value in skincare.

Dehydrating alcohols

There are good and bad alcohols. The good alcohols are called fatty alcohols and they protect the skin from drying out. The bad alcohols are often added to skincare as it helps improve the texture of product. It leaves the product feeling light and weightless. And it ensures that ingredients are better absorbed by the skin. They do this by stripping the skin of its natural natural fat layer. The big disadvantage of this is that the skin dries out and can become irritated. The bad alcohols are indicated on the list of ingredients as alcohol denat., Ethanol or ethyl alcohol.

Parabens and Phthalates.

Parabens are used to preserve formulas. They prevent the growth of bacteria and fungi and keep products good for longer. However, studies have shown that they can disrupt the hormonal balance in the body. Although the effect is probably not as great as is often claimed, we have decided to omit it completely from our skincare.

Phthalates are used as a solvent in skincare. Phthalates can also work on the hormone balance. A number of phthalates are already banned under European legislation, we will not use the rest of the phthalates in our skin care products.
